Yep, that's Frodo.

Your turn, Frelga!

Jude, a quibble in how you responded to Frelga's Q.
Each and everyone of the "he" referred to Saruman, not just the first one.

Correct?

The first "He" in the translated quote actually was Saruman in the original; the second "he" was "he" in the original.

Objection overruled :P

How about this quibble. You stated in your spoiler-blocked hint that Sauron was no longer a concern at this point. But the "it" in the original quote referred to Mordor, as in Saruman was doing Sauron's work all the time, and still was. Hence, even though Sauron was physically gone at this point, he was still arguably "a concern" at this point.

:P

Well, if you want to quibble about the exact meaning of still being a concern is, you're welcome to do so.

But I won't :P

I have a quibble with this quibble. Frodo says that Saruman did Mordor's ("its") work even when he thought he was doing things for his own reasons. That could refer to the work he had done before Sauron fell. At the time the quote is spoken, Sauron was no longer a concern.

In any case, it would be confusing if Jude agreed that the quote referred to Sauron, because I would have assumed that Sauron is still very much a threat and gone looking somewhere in the Isengard chapters.

Is "your school's refusal" a translation of "your lack of education"?

No, it's a fairly clever translation of a fairly uncommon word.

Its Gimli. " You truants might make amends by finding us some of the plunder that you spoke of."

So "you truants" got translated to "your school's refusal". That is cool.

Al, that's the one.

V, I thought it was pretty cool, too. I wondered how the translation would handle it.

That sounds like something Movie Elrond would say.

I'm trying to remember if Book Elrond ever said anything similar...
