Yeah, but that would be in Logan's past... Logan is set in the future. Sheesh Sunny, try to keep up...

I was talking real life timeline. Not comic book timeline.

Comic book timelines are impossible to figure out! :nono:

Oh, and I was mainly referring to Professor X dying in X-Men 3, then dying again in Logan.

My favorite comic book quote was "But you were dead at the time" and I can't remember where it's from.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

OK, I've seen Infinity War. and Deadpool2 Comment below contains spoilers for each.
Hidden text.
What are they thinking??? Killing off so many major franchises at once? Are they just tired of making money? Was it getting too hard keeping everything straight? Or, like in the last bit of Deadpool 2, is someone going to go back in time and "clean up the timeline?" and reverse all the bad things?
And was that serious with Deadpool? Was that on the theater release? Or was it just something they threw into the Blu ray version on a whim? Is there going to be another Deadpool? And is his lover alive or dead? How can you just go back and negate all the bad things that happen in a story?
I'm a bit annoyed with both movies, actually. WTF????

For Infinity War - let's wait until part 2 to see how this all plays out! (I actually had a dream about seeing pt 2 last night but I can't remember any of the details....)

For Deadpool - I'm pretty sure all the post-credits stuff was meant as their typical meta jokes. I don't expect that to be part of the real story going forward.

Oh, there's a part 2? Well, maybe I won't see it... and the story will be stay just as they left it in my head.

*Pouts*

And if they showed it, it ought to be counted as part of the story. "Lazy writing" as was said in Deadpool2 so many times.

Seriously... I'm quite annoyed.

The movies were originally supposed to be called Infinity War pt 1 & 2, but the directors decided they wanted to give the two movies distinct names. Still, everyone seems to be treating it as pt 1 of 2, because clearly the story of Thanos ain't over yet!

Yesterday I got to see two Marvel movies back-to-back. Well, more or less...

I don't know why I never saw Iron Man 3 all the way through. I think there must have been something on TV that was competing with it for my attention last time it was on, and I didn't have a DVR yet. I remember not liking he bits and pieces I did see very much.

This time around, I got to see it from start to finish without interruption and really liked it. I am not a huge fan of Tony's character - his portrayal in Iron Man 2 was, frankly embarrassing, and REALLY turned me off, but this was better, WAY better!

I did have to FF my way through a few overly long fight scenes, but on the whole, it was a pretty good movie. I especially liked the end, and as Frelga said elsewhere, the way Marvel characters change and grow. (And it was about damn time Tony got that shrapnel taken out of his heart!)

Then, I followed it up with Deadpool. I had seen this movie before on TV, and didn't remember having much of a reaction to it one way or another, so I wanted to see it again, because I really couldn't remember much about it.

Ugh. Yuck. Deadpool's smartass cracks are not funny the second time around. Some of them cross the line into extreme bad taste, and others are downright disgusting (sandpaper dildo, for example.) Those of you who know me from the board know I am no prude, and can handle swearing, bathroom humour (hey, I'm a NURSE!!) and sexual humour and even black humour with the best of them. But this was juvenile, just plain BAD! Like swearing just for the effect you know it's going to have (upset someone, or so you look cool in the eyes of your friends).

The fight scenes also went on for far too long and were b-o-r-i-n-g me to tears. I FFed through nearly the whole movie then deleted it.

I can't think of a single redeeming thing to say about it.

Sunny, I also skipped IM3 after being disappointed by IM2. I finally saw it years after it came out, and my reaction was similar to yours. Like, wow, why didn't anyone tell me this was fun?

Frelga, I am saving most of the Marvel movies to my DVR. Well, the ones I think are worth saving and want to watch again.

IM#3 was one of them.

As someone who dabbles in these movies and quite likes a number of the ones I’ve seen ... what’s IM3, preciousss?
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Iron Man 3. In my super duper official MCU rankings (previously posted here:http://thehalloffire.net/forum/viewtopi ... 50#p338250), I ranked it 2nd to last so I can't say I share their opinions. I actually think the first half is great with some really good character development for Tony, but the second half is by FAR the worst stuff in all the MCU (the villian is so, so bad), dragging the movie waaay down for me.

Saw someone say that the first two Thor movies are actually Loki's community theater plays. That would explain a lot.

Oops, not sure what happened there. It's fixed now.

The list needs to be updated though, with Infinity War towards the top and Ant-Man 2 towards the bottom.

And, at the same time, some NOT so good news from the MCU - Chris Evans and Robert Downey (and a number of other stars) will NOT be renewing their contracts with Marvel!
