That's because writers are paid by the word.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Hmm

Planet of the Apes
Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Escape from the Planet of the Apes
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Battle for the Planet of the Apes

I'm not sure you can argue thats a new problem...

Nefarious! It's been happening all along, getting under my skin, and I didn't even know it.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Your remarks on the same film at the start suggest otherwise, though. :)

I wasn't stating my personal opinion of the film at the start. Just making observations about its popular and critical reception.

I thought it was a fun movie that made some genuine, though broad, attempts at capturing something deeper. An 82% rating seems about right. Maybe a little high.
Well, if you felt it was fun and thought it perhaps belongs in the 78-80% category on RT, I would think you thought it was a good film, not straight-to-DVD.
But your opinions. Fine with it! :)

SV's investigative tendencies are hurting my ability to be wildly inconsistent! :)

Not investigative. Just good memory over someone's opinions which I find valuable. (at times!) :)
