Batman vs Superman

Post by halplm »

Ben Affleck is the new Batman.

I think that's wrong.

Although I am one of the few who liked him as Daredevil, which is a similar character, so maybe it will work.

Why do you think that's wrong?

Is Batman vs. Superman the title of the new movie? (I'm trying to figure out why Superman is part of the title of the thread. Are we going to talk about how hot Henry Cavill is? ;) Or how it's a shame that I still haven't seen the new Superman movie? Or how, in general, I think Superman is way cooler than Batman? But both are cooler than Spiderman.)

Affleck is a terrible actor, IMO. Just terrible.

PS - Lali, the correct order is Batman > Spiderman > Superman. Just FYI for future reference.

My summary of the new Superman movie:

20 minutes of really good storytelling surrounded by a couple of hours of mindless crap.

Why are you listing them right to left?

The next movie is supposed to be Batman vs Superman, Lali, although that probably won't be the title, and they'll probably come to an understanding in order to fight a big bad guy (likely Lex Luthor of course).

And Batman and Spiderman are like apples and oranges (Batman is cooler, but Spiderman has superpowers!).... but they're both WAY cooler than Superman...

And I liked Daredevil, yov... but though the characters are similar... I just don't see it.

Despite the tragic admission that you like DD, at least tell me you didn't think Affleck was good in it?

He was, IMHO, not the problem with the movie. But he wasn't great either.

Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli.

C'mon, don't diss Wil ("One-El") Wheaton! He played Wesley Crusher ("The Boy") in Star Trek: The Next Generation. (And I've enjoyed some of his blogging very much—he's got a sense of humor about the source of his geek cred, and unlike a lot of child stars, he seems to have grown up to be a nice man with a perfectly normal life. Except he gets to go to every Comic-Con he wants.)
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Really? I remember hoping that somehow his character would get mauled by bears at some point. (AKA I had a mild dislike for Wesley. :P)

Not dissing him at all. In fact, I heard that he's slated to play me in the upcoming "The Quest for Idempotency".

But now that I know that he spells his name with one "el", I think I'll just tell him "thanks, but no thanks".

Of course, I don't expect that you'd complain if anyone tried to ruin a story about midgets running around with a magic ring accompanied by fairytale creatures... :P

FWIW, I think that the Batman/Superman crossover film is a bad idea from the start.
