Great news for Canadians! I didn't realize The Abominable Bride was going to hit the big screen! :horse:

Tickets will be available in Canada starting October 30th!

The bad news is it's going to play on the 4th and 6th only! :(

There is also a new, longer trailer available: https://www.facebook.com/Sherlock.BBCW/ ... =2&theater

If you want to be awestruck at the care they have taken in filming this, hit the freeze button when the scene comes up at 7 seconds of the hansom cabs being driven through the streets of London, with St. Paul's dome and another church's spire in the background. Awesome period photography!

I saw The Abominable Bride on PBS 2 nights ago. Anyone else seen it yet? Any comments?

I thought the ending sucked. They tried to be far too clever, and I think they lost many of the viewers in the process. (Trying to steer clear of spoilers here as best I can...)

Hidden text.
I could make no sense of it until I read a poster's comment that pointed out the whole thing was a drug-induced fantasy, taking place in Sherlock's 'mind palace' as present-day Sherlock tries to solve Moriarty's return to life. The clues are there if you pay close attention: the modern-day terms such as 'virus', the way Sherlock scrolls through the news clippings about the bride as if he's viewing them on his cell phone, the way telegrams are displayed as if they are text messages, rather than typed on paper. Once I read that, the pieces fell into place, but I was still very disappointed and annoyed by the whole thing. Oh...and Sherlock's speech on behalf of the suffragettes? UGH! They're not allowed to speak for themselves, obviously. :nono: Nope, didn't care for it at all. It would have been much better if they had skipped the flashes back and forth in time, and just presented it as a period piece where Sherlock, Mycroft, Mary and Watson work together to solve a very intriguing mystery. IMO, things began to go downhill very swiftly when the bride lifts the veil to reveal Moriarty. Ugh.

I thought it was pretty clearly explained to be honest. The clues were there earlier, yes, but Sherlock explains exactly what he was attempting toward the end of the episode?

It was 1:30 am when the episode wrapped up. Perhaps if I'd watched it in an earlier time slot, it would have been clearer!

I enjoyed the whole thing and was able to pick up on clues to the time period. The one thing that irked me was that, like Sunny, I thought

the speech to suffragettes was pretty patronizing. Why not let Mary Watson deliver it?

So. Is Moriarty dead or isn't he?

Can't help but think of Schrodinger's Cat... :D There are, of course, two possible answers to that question. Either he's dead, and carefully planned in advance for his followers to carry on after his death, or he somehow faked his death. I don't think I've seen the episode where he kills himself, so I'm not sure if the latter is a possibility.

But we do have Sherlock's meticulously faked death as an example of what could have happened. And then, of course, there's all the ambiguities presented in the latest release.

Well, the show creators have famously said that hey, he blew a hole in his head, he's dead, what more do you want? But they are tricksy.

I didn't love this episode like I have the others. I got that the whole thing was some drug-induced fantasy, but it was kind of confusing at times.

I was shopping in WalMart today, and found Season 2 of Sherlock on sale for $20! Decided to treat myself... :D I've seen all of Season 3 on PBS, but IIRC, haven't seen any of Season 2.

Break out the popcorn! :D

No unpacking got done tonight. I watched the first episode of Season 2, and followed it up with Code Black, which I also recorded. First time I've used that feature on my new TV package! I selected the
'record' option before I watched Sherlock. Good thing, too. I was so tired I dozed off once the Sherlock episode was done, and would have missed the first 15 minutes of Code Black.

I love the way Watson stands up to Sherlock in this episode, when Sherlock hits him. I love it when Watson the soldier comes out!

Usual complaints re. plot holes, and I thought the beginning, where they wrapped up the confrontation with Moriarty was a bit weak, but other than that, I rather liked the episode, and want to watch it again to see what I missed the first time around.

Okay, can anyone explain to me about the plane full of dead people in the Season 2 opening episode? Were they actual dead people who had died of natural causes? How could that possibly work? They would have to all have fake passports and ID that matched the log of passengers on the flight.

Plot holes, plot holes...

And who was the man Irene Adler phoned when she got the flight information from Sherlock? One of the terrorists?

I've watched it twice now, and some things make sense that didn't make sense the first time around, but others still have me scratching my head!

Binge-watched Season 3 on TV last night, in preparation for the launch of Season 4 at 9 pm tonight. Couldn't make it through the last episode, but I have it recorded, and will watch it later! :)

Thanks for the alert, Sunny! I just watched it on my laptop at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/pro ... erlock-s4/ . Not sure if it will work in other countries.

As for comments. My lips are sealed. For now.

Google what TPTB behind the show have to say. Apparently it's also what happens in the original stories, though it's just mentioned in passing. It was not a surprise to me. It was hinted at way back in 2014. :(
