And I feel it's nice that it's a nod to adult fans who remember when spinning text was COOL.

Sorry, it's a Facebook link, so I don't think it will work unless you have a FB account.

If you all hadn't mentioned the website was deliberately retro, I wouldn't have noticed anything weird about it at all.

Did you see his adorable little fist pump when he saw that Black Panther won for the original score?

The History Behind Captain America Punching Hitler

Quote:
We were inundated with a torrent of raging hate mail and vicious, obscene telephone calls. The theme was “death to the Jews.” At first we were inclined to laugh off their threats, but then, people in the office reported seeing menacing-looking groups of strange men in front of the building on Forty Second Street and some of the employees were fearful of leaving the office for lunch. Finally, we reported the threats to the police department. The result was a police guard on regular shifts patrolling the halls and office.

Saw Captain Marvel today and really, really enjoyed it. No grand masterpiece by any means but plenty fun with a cool story I really enjoyed. Was a little disappointed by the lead Brie Larson who I think was a bit miscast as I did not find her very convincing how's a tough warrior woman, but despite that disappointment, the movie around her still manages to remain interesting and entertaining.

PS - I hate posting things like this here knowing that Prim will no longer be seeing them. *sigh*

This articulates one of the reasons I loved the Black Panther.

They were definitely one of my favorite things about that movie.

Captain Marvel is possibly the most purely fun Marvel movie. It is also possibly the first purely Disney movie in the MCU.

We have a plucky princess, a sidekick, an adorable animal friend (with a twist because it's still Marvel). Nothing particularly bad happens. The hero succeeds by believing in herself and doesn't pay a terrible price. Planets don't explode. The bad guy, if there is one, isn't motivated by daddy issues, thank goodness.

It's just fun.

Yeah, it's not at all a deep or impressive movie, it's not at all amongst Marvel's best, parts of it aren't that great, but somehow I still liked it a whole lot. My thought was that it was the most "comic book" movie in that it's just kind of a geeky story about superpowers and aliens and stuff, and if you can get behind that, it's really entertaining.

I had a lot of fun watching Captain Marvel. Brie Larson was good in the title role and I look forward to seeing more of her in Avengers: Endgame but I think the supporting cast stood out great. I'm not familiar with Captain Marvel's comics so I'd never heard of Dr Lawson's character before, but Annette Bening stole every scene she was in. It was great to see more Nick Fury than usual--as well as Coulson in a movie for the first time since I was 17--and Jude Law is worth the price of admission to most anything.

Finally watching Ant-Man and Wasp. That movie is completely unrealistic in the way they can so easily find an empty space for a whole building in San Francisco, and the way the car chase just keeps going through the downtown like you move for more than half a block without it being stuffed curb to curb with traffic.

Luis is still my favorite, though.

My favorite part of Ant-Man and the wasp was learning that the quantum realm has phenomenal skin care products.

I'm guessing this question will only be for Frelga - I am considering finally getting around to watching Agent Carter but I really really hate watching a show that gets canceled with dangling, unresolved storylines remaining. Can I watch this show without being disappointed that stories got left hanging without a resolution?

Yes, yes you can! Each season is a complete storyline, which resolves both the plot and the character arc.

They did have a plot hook for the third season in the post-credits scene of the last S2 episode, but it doesn't affect what has gone before. If you don't want to deal with it, just turn it off after the episode appears to be over.

This is some of the best MCU-related stuff and is definitely worth watching.

Watch the first two episodes. It's fun! Definitely has a bit of a campy/corny vibe, but considering the classic 50s aesthetic they're going for it comes off pretty cute and charming. And Carter and Jarvis are both quite likeable and have a really nice, easy chemistry. :)

As a bit of an aside, I'm glad to find a show that's just some nice, good fun. The modern age has brought us a massive glut of "premium" TV, much of it very good, but goodness so much of its takes itself so very, very seriously. I often find myself in the mood for something that's just fun and despite the tons of content everywhere, hardly ever find something that quite fits the bill.
(Buffy being the epitome of really fun but really good TV. Why did so few TV shows follow in its hugely entertaining footsteps?)
