The Kindle Books and Resources List
Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Any opinion on it? His recommendations are sometimes scary.

Full disclosure - this is the first time I heard about Delany. But Gaiman was effusive.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

I took a punt on Delany because of the list price reduction ... and because if you the multiple nebula awards and 5 star rating.

The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Hanrahan is on sale for 99c today. Really cracking fantasy, very original. Highly recommended!

Price back up to Aus$8. Downloaded a sample and will doubtless buy it when I get to the end of the 80 pages.

Cheers. Not yet convinced by the second book, but I haven't had much time for reading.

Thoughts on "The Gutter Prayer"?

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Read both the books. I loved them. Absolutely loved them. Hoping for more in this series.
I loved the language, and how phrases meant more when looked at deeper. “Kept” Gods being a prime example.
IMO, The first one was better than the second. But that’s also because the number of characters naturally increases as the saga grows, and I personally like them in a manageable number (just like my friends. ).

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Have not yet got to it, Al; I have a waiting list of books, and I'm in the middle of an author - must finish the series I'm on.

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Inanna, I suspect you won't take to it, but it's the Lady Sherlock series by Sherry Thomas. Set during the same period as the original Sherlock, it's a very clever reinterpretation of Sherlock Holmes. The mysteries are intriguing and the characterisations are inspired and the lead persona dramatis ate turned on their heads: Sherlock and Watson are women.
Charlotte Holmes is a vivid and convincing literary creation, and Thomas uses her brilliantly to illustrate how constrained and oppressed women were in that society.
But...not sure that this historical mystery romance is a genre you enjoy.

Actually, I love historical mystery genre. I love outlander, for example.
I’ll give it a try!

Loving the series, Imp. Have read book 1, and almost Book 2. Which doesn’t surprise me at all - I don’t think there’s any recommendation of yours I haven’t loved. Yours and Prim’s. Frelga, too, except for her Marvel obsession.
