It's never thewords that really hit the emotional zone, it's always the music, and in some often I cannot put a finger on why it is.

I can give you pretty exact reference points but the "songs" themselves are so obscure it would probalby not mean much to anyone else.

Animation huh, you think the least they could do is get some live dragons - Like others I enjoyed these books years ago, having not re-read them for some time, I don't really remember the detail in the stories. I think if they were going to make films they would need in some way to retain the overal...

Intersting when you read the UN declaration, how many western countries come up to the mark. It seems to me that certainly in the UK sorry to be parochial our politics has changed entirely from substance to appearance, thus we can make all sorts of public statements concerning the support of decent ...

JKR's comments implied a summer release, assuming that she keeps to her schedule and does not encounter writers block or something. She told Robbie Coltrane in an odd "two celebritie's interview each other" thing that she's nearly decided on the title for VII. If I recall, we got that in ...

I suppose the one thing more incomprehensible than Dan Browns book is the number of people who have believed it, of course this is where the Church have been the own worse enemies, they have given credibility to the guff by being agin it so strongly. And whats this medieval French texts "Les Do...

"I've got to get me to a library fast". Reminds me of cartoon where showing a man fainted in the middle of a crowd - with the caption - make way I'a m an insurance agent. Oh and Leigh Teabing - what's sort of name is that, did he mean to say Teabag but spelt it wrong Perhaps it''s an anagram

Perhaps you all have underrated Mr Brown terribly, he is a terrible writer, but a good business man. He needs to write a story, wants to make it modern so he employs a "cryptographer", in fact the person he describes is more of a Crypt-analyst than a cryptographer - he then brings in some ...

so many things come to mind - the vision of the happy small boy - becoming something which threatens and frightens is so sad, I am sorry. I cannot accept though that it's better that they die, or that the divorcee is widowed, it could be easier, if easy is what you want - Easy is usually selfish, co...

strikes me that the jury did a good job in this case, the easy call would have been the death sentance. I cannot comment as to whether life imprisonment was the correct sentance, as my knowledge of the trial is purely based on headlines, which in the UK tend to be lurid. If the man was a genuine con...

The whole this is about what people work and strive for, if you live in a society where the only determinent is how much the individual can accumulate, then bascially the old and the poor will suffer. If however we take the view that we do have compassion to care for those who helped pay for our edu...

I could go into an extended rant about holodeck sex and cybersex, but you can all heave a sigh of relief that I intend to do no such thing. :D Primmy and Anthy have said it all for me. :horse: dirtnap, you are quite correct about the pagan origins of maypole dancing. Indeed, the Puritans of 16th ce...

(generic "you" here) And if your partner calls it cheating, it is cheating, no matter what you may believe about it. The damage is the same. You have to deal with your partner's real feelings, not with how he or she "rationally" "ought" to feel. the logical extension o...

don't know if this ogiliates too much, happy to split away if you like - the reason I found this was intersting apart from the cheesy notion of pole dancing per se is the way folk have differing views on the subject. To an extent the opions are stereo-typical, 1. The excuse that it's just a fomr of ...

The elderly and the military consume about 80% of our federal budget. people usually look at that in isolation, what they forget is that 80% of budget is also generating a fare amount of employment, and those people who are employed also pay taxes, they consume and they are not on welfare, so in a ...
