I don't think that Men of Andreth's time ever had Estel since it, Estel, requires a naked trust and a belief that the Creater is wholly good and, as such, had their best interests at heart. Some of the Men of Andreth's time had Estel, and did not lose it. Those of the Old Hope . I always find it so...

I'm sorry, Frelga. That was very harsh of me and uncalled for. My apologies.

The truth is, I don't really think anything about it at all.

That's well and good, but as the wise and powerful Sassy has already pointed out, it skirts the question asked in this thread.

LOL, I thought Rastafari defined itself by wearing an icky hairdo. Actually, most Rastafarians -- indeed, most people with dreadlocks -- are extremely fastidious about their hair. And some are quite beautiful. More to the point, while I am not a Rastafarian, some of the most spiritual people that I...

If Eru wished to do this, I do not doubt that He would find a way, though I cannot foresee it.

None at all. Which is particularly difficult in cases such as I work with. The bulk of the compensatory damages in a sexual harassment case consists of general damages. How does one measure the value of the loss of dignity that a single woman trying to feed her four children suffers when her boss fo...

Jn, general damages are a form compensatory damages (what you are calling "loss damages"). Compensatory damages are divided into special damages and general damages. Special damages are damages that can be measured in economic terms: lost wages, medical expenses, etc. General damages are n...

Thanks, scirocco. :)

Edited to add: that is a really good point about the "evil memory" not being explained in the published text, but relating back to the previous drafts. :)

Trotter, tortured in Moria? I don't recall that at all. I recall him being tortunred in Mordor. I don't suppose you have a specific reference? There are several that I can find to his being in Mordor, but none in Moria ( e.g. , Return of the Shadow, p. 371 - "Trotter turns out to be Pergrin, wh...

I have to admit, I've had a hard time believing that that there was a straight out $250,000 cap on punitive damages in Canada. It just doesn't make sense to me. So I tried to do some research to see if I could confirm it one way or the other. I'm afraid that what I found does not seem to confirm tha...

It seems to me that we all do have a bit of God's light in us. If there is any such thing as "God," it is, moreover, (seems to me), generated by the Light in each of us responding to the Light of those we meet.
Ah, Teremia Saelind, you speak very close to that which I believe.
