I'm almost certain I dropped the "d" word first when describing my Mother and all that I meant by it was that she is waaaay stricter than I am and tends to give the church more credit whereas I put my foot down.

After reading your post Lurker it made me remember how I felt on Good Friday, during the stations of the cross. It can be very emotional, yet it's very cleansing.

Like you, I am upset that the Catholic Church with regards to how they dealt with it but I'm not easily persuaded to abandon my beliefs just because it's not to my liking. Like gay marriage, I supported the move, but since I'm a traditionalist I said just as long as they don't get the church (any r...

I agree Prim! I just got off the phone with my devoute Mom we don't see eye to eye but she listens and offers her side. I feel much cooler now. Lurker, yes priests are human and I'm not being a very good Christian because I haven't found it in my heart to forgive the priests that preyed on the innoc...

The Catholic church is beyone broken, it's embarrassing. It's made me re-evaluate my entire relgious belief. I have faith in God, but I have VERY little faith in my church.

1. What religion/spirituality and denomination are you? I was raised Catholic. 2. Does that denomination have female religious (non-lay) leaders (priests, rabbis, ministers, etc)? Nope, but we do have nuns. 5. If no, would you prefer that your denomination ordain women? Why or why not? Absolutely! ...

Bottom line politicians are politicians and they need to say whatever will make the masses happy. If that means calling the US President "satan" then so be it, as long as the crowd cheers. It was a tactical move. Right now the US is frowned upon in other countries...that is until they need...

Erm...Catholics don't use the King James version. That was an English Protestant phenomena ;). The New American (NASB) and the Douay-Rheims are the two Catholic versions I am familiar with. The New American is similar to the NIV, and the Douay-Rheims is...more like the Revised Standard? I'm not sur...

I'm Catholic and they use the King James version and I knew straight away if I wanted to understand the Bible, King James was not the way to go. You all were ambitious, I tried reading the Bible when I was younger starting with Genesis. Emphasis on TRIED. So Halplm and I began with the Gospel accord...
